Video Equipment
Often people message me about getting started in Youtube as a side hustle.
I think it's a pretty great one!
First save your money, and you use your phone and natural light as much as possible. Do this a hundred times over before you level up your equipment.
Then, I would suggest the following of my equipment: These are the most affordable - getting-it-done-no-bells-and-whistle options* - I could find - and it would give you the look that you see in my current studio. (Not my old videos, those are darn awful to look at now.)
Sony Camera A6100
My Sony A6100 camera is not top of the line! And it doesn't have to be to get the 4K job done. Save yourself the money on the camera, and spend it on lenses and lighting to get the full effect in your Youtube Studio.
The Sony nifty fifty lens
Ok, so this is going to depend on the size of the room you are filming in. My room is large and I divorce my sound from the camera placement. So this is the Sony 50mm lens that works for this scenario.
Neewer Battery Replacements
After you have your camera and lens, I would really recommend these Neewer extra batteries. There is nothing worse that in flow of filming just to realize that the last 20 minutes of brilliance was to a dead camera.
Lens Protector
You spend a pretty penny on your lens. The last thing you want to do is ruin it - especially when doing outside filming. This lens protector also does some UV cutting as a bonus.
Godox Key Light
For a small studio this little 60W is my main source of illumination. You can do the 100W option, but for most people you can just save the money as this light will do the trick - as long as the light is relatively nearby.
Godox P90L Light Modifier
A light is nothing without a modifier, and for the most part we want soft smooth light dancing on our faces.
This Godox PL90L modifier is one of my go-to ones.
